What to do in Lakes Entrance
There is so much to see and do while staying in Lakes Entrance. Whether its a family vacation, a romantic getaway for two or a quiet relaxing holiday, Lakes Entrance has plenty of activities for you to enjoy.
You can take a lazy drive to great towns and villages such as Buchan, Bruthen, Metung, Paynesville, Cape Conran, Lake Tyers, Orbost and Malacoota as well as some of the great National Parks and State Forests of the region.
If cruising the waterways is more your cup of tea, there are several cruise operators offering lunch, afternoon, eco friendly and sightseeing tours on our beautiful Lake system. Cruises depart from Lakes Entrance for destinations including Metung and Paynesville, passing Raymond Island along the way. Or, why not try and sneak a Wyanga Park Winery Cruise into your itenerary and sample some of our local wines.
Fishing has always been a major drawcard for people visiting East Gippsland. So, while you're here, enjoy a relaxing day spent with the family trying your luck off one of the many piers or jetties around the area. Alternatively, you can hire out your own boat or book a spot on one of the fishing charter boats.
We have fabulously fresh seafood that can be purchased straight off the boat or sampled from several of our wonderful restaurants and clubs, which are located nearby.
Across the footbrige is the famous 90 Mile Beach. Home of the Lakes Entrance Surf Lifesaving Club which is host to the State Junior and Senior Lifesaving Championships for 2010 and 2011. It offers our visitors an uncrowded, unspoilt, pristine beach experience which is patrolled by lifesavers during the summer months. Come and see where the future champions of the surf lifesaving movement test their skills both in the water and on the beach.
